about the girl — me, mimi!!back

my name is yasmin and i'm a girl who lives in kentucky and has lived here basically her whole life. mimi is my nickname and i kinda alternate between the two since i have no real preference for one or the other... i speak both english and spanish
( i'm fluent in spanish cuz my family is puerto rican :P ) and am learning brazilian portuguese. something rly important to know about me is that i'm an aspie and soo it may b difficult for me to communicate and just do things sometimes but i've been getting better with dealing with it!!

i've never written a bio where i actually try describing myself since it's always been difficult to talk about me... i'm really forgetful and i think that's part of why since everything kinda slips away from me once i actually try writing about myself. i stay inside a lot as well soo sometimes i don't rly get to do much other than the stuff i do at home lol xP i'm super into collections and even though i'm not rly keeping up with them much as of now and i don't even have much in terms of collection items (some of my "collections" r about going to physical locations, photos, etc. rather than actually owning things), they've always been on my mind.

i try to be as approachable as possible since it's rly difficult for me to build up the courage to get my name out myself, as my english teacher said... all of the new people i've met in the past likee year have come up to me because they found me interesting for whatever reason (not sure if that's rly something to brag about) and i'm much better with responding than being the one who starts things. i've always kinda liked being alone and doing things by myself as i often am but i really like talking with people as well whenever i get the chance to!! i always try to put lots of effort into being friendly and talking with people, so much so that at times i think i experience burnout for short periods of time and it gets hard to talk with them since i wanna maintain the quality for everyone i talk to lol :P

my number one favorite thing is probably music and as you can probably tell i like to dedicate a lot of my time thinking about it! i just like making art and other stuff i can call my own work a lot as well since it can be really fun and i like being able to express myself through different mediums since i can be really bad with words sometimes... but i can be really good with words at times too!!

why did i start on my website now?

like most things i've been stuck on fantasizing about for a long time, i've wanted to make my own website for a really long time now. i remember seeing the little websites that my mutuals on twitter had back whenever i was active on there ( they were mostly carrds back then... omg i havn't heard of them in a while lol xP ) and thought it was super cool!! they were places where people could explain more about themselves in much larger depth all in one place and they could customize it in a lot of different ways. i didn't really know anything about the concept of personal websites at the time, so this was amazing for me!

i did make a carrd, a rentry, and even a wikipedia user page which were made far apart from each other, but they were really limited. they were just somewhere i could place my links and just a tiny bit of info about myself, which definitely wasn't what i wanted for my definitive personal website, so i knew eventually i was gonna want to take it into my own hands and make something that i could actually be proud of.

tbhh i forgot why, but i made my nekoweb account in the middle of november and became interested in the idea of making my own personal website again... but this time, i was so much more willing to commit to the idea and over the course of the next couple of weeks, i looked around at some personal websites to get inspiration. browsing through some of the websites on nekoweb was really cool since i kinda was part of the little "community" ( i think nekoweb is probably small compared to lik neocities or any other website hosting place idkk :p ) and i came across plenty of awsome sites that were successful in making me want to make my own more! websites like doqmeat, tyoma.cool, dimden's, ribo.zone, and a bunch of others were my favs and have contributed a lot to the look and content and probably will continue to do so along with more websites that i discover down the line :>

i guess i've been wanting a new challenge creatively and i figured that taking on the challenge of finally making my own website would be a cool thing to try to do! i wasn't looking forward to learning coding, which i think was most of what was keeping me away from trying this out until now, but once i started trying to learn it wasn't as bad as i thought it was and it actually became surprisingly fun to go thru the process of learning and then applying it to the construction of my site :o commitment to projects and in general was and still kinda is really difficult for me, but over the course of the past year, i've gotten way better with functioning in general, and so i realized that now i could actually try to pursue the fantasy i had for a long while, which is going really nicely so far!

it makes me really happy to have finally started working on my website, and i hope to continue working on this and add so much more!! after working on this for around a month now, i definitely agree that social media is super limiting compared to personal websites, and even though i kinda like posting pictures on them and stuff, it's really nice to have one single place where you can put anything you want with the ability to make it look however you want U^ ^U even if very little people look at my site, i still think working on this is worth it since it's for everyone as well as myself! like ppl say, it's kinda like my little corner of the internet that i can use and customize however i want, which is awsome!!!

i probably won't make a page dedicated to the buttons and stamps i've made recently for the website but i wanted to write a little about them here since i still really like them a lot even if they're simple!! most of the stamps i've made so far are just of album covers and i haven't made many as of now but i will add more of the ones i make here as i go on :^)

i also ofcc made the buttons for my website that's on the side... i rly like how it came out!! i'm always surprised by how decently my graphics come out sometimes... likee i made the backgrounds on the diary entries on my diary's page as well and those especially came out rly nicely!! it makes me happy that i can do that kind of stuff :>
